Astro is making a big shift towards streaming with the introduction of Astro X3, a new streaming-first offering that lets customers start watching within minutes. No Astro box and no installation required.
The service is available to both new and existing customers, with sign-ups completed on a mobile device before streaming through the Astro app on compatible Smart TVs or across devices with the Astro GO app.
Astro X3 also offers customers the option to subscribed with no contract required. While, the Astro X3 offering goes live on 20th July, customers can only choose from 12-month contract plans at the time of launch. The no-contract plans will be introduced from December 2026, which provides customers the freedom to subscribe, pause or cancel their service whenever they want.
Astro X3 pricing and availability

Astro X3 will officially launch on 20 July 2026 with two 12-month contract plans:
- Astro X3: Entertainment 12 Pack — RM39.99/month
- Access to more than 65 channels
- Astro GO
- Astro X3: Sports 12 Pack — RM89.99/month
- Access to more than 80 channels including all Entertainment Pack channels and live sports
- Astro GO
- beIN SPORTS CONNECT
- Sun NXT Lite
From December 2026, customers will be able to subscribe to Astro X without contract with the following options:
- Astro X3: Entertainment Pack — RM59.99/month
- Access to more than 65 channels
- Astro GO
- Astro X3: Sports Pack — RM109.99/month
- Access to more than 80 channels including all Entertainment Pack channels and live sports
- Astro GO
- beIN SPORTS CONNECT
- Sun NXT Lite
Take note that all prices shown above exclude SST.
Essentially, users who pick the no contract option will have to pay RM20 more per month and lose out on several content and OTT options that are only available for contract customers.

Unlike Astro’s traditional satellite TV service, Astro X3 is designed as a streaming-only offering.
Customers simply sign up using their mobile device and stream directly through the Astro app on compatible Smart TVs without requiring an Astro decoder or technician installation. Astro GO is included, allowing customers to continue watching across supported devices.
The service includes Astro Originals and flagship Signature Live programmes, major live sports including the Premier League, AFC and UEFA Champions League, Formula 1, MotoGP, Wimbledon and international badminton tournaments, as well as global entertainment content.
If you want more content options, Astro X3 lets you add on Kids, Blockbuster and Sports Extra but only if you sign up for the 12-month contract option.
Supported Over-the-top (OTT) streaming services on Astro X3 include Disney+, Prime Video, HBO Max, Viu, iQIYI, TVBAnywhere+, Sun NXT, WeTV, SimplySouth, ZEE5 and Qalbox by Muslim Pro. However, these OTT options are only available with the 12-month contract option.
Interestingly, Netflix is not listed as a supported OTT app for Astro X3, although it is available on Astro One.
How does Astro X3 compare with Astro One?

Besides eliminating the need for a physical Astro box, Astro X3 also reduces the minimum commitment contract duration.
The contract plans require a 12-month commitment, compared to 24 months for Astro One. Once the no-contract plans become available in December, customers can subscribe without any long-term commitment.
There are a few trade-offs. Astro X3 offers over 80 channels compared to 86+ channels on Astro One, does not include radio channels and has fewer content add-ons.
It is also mentioned that Cartoon Network (CH 615) is not available in the Kids Pack add-on under the Astro X3: Entertainment 12 Pack offering.

If you go for the no-contract option for Astro X3, there are no content add-ons and there’s also add-on option for Astro Go+, which allows you to unlock additional devices for simultaneous Astro Go streaming for up to 4 users/device.
Similar to Astro One, all Astro X3 users (both contract and no-contract) can enjoy streaming up to 4K UHD quality.
