Gentari has deployed its first EV charging facilities on public street level in partnership with Penang Island City Council (MBPP). With a total of four EV charging bays, this is Gentari’s largest DC charging deployment on Penang island so far and they are ideal for EV drivers to top up while stopping by to run errands.
50kW DC Chargers in front of Big Pharmacy in Jelutong
Located along Jalan Perak in Jelutong, in front of Big Pharmacy, Gentari has deployed two 50kW DC Chargers with two CCS2 nozzles each. If two cars are plugged in to the same charger, the power capacity will be split dynamically to two cars.
From the streetview photos, the lots use a side parking layout so you’ll need to ensure that you’re parked properly in the right orientation to charge.

Like most Gentari locations, these 50kW DC chargers are priced at RM1.60 per kWh. If you have a Gentari Go Power Pass membership, you’ll only need to pay RM0.80 per kWh with its 50% off benefit.
These chargers can be activated via the Gentari Go app.
MBPP to enforce towing for EV charging bay hoggers
Since this is a street level EV charging bay, there are concerns of hogging by non-charging vehicles. Gentari has left a note that towing will be enforced.
If you spot any vehicles hogging at EV charging bays around MBPP areas, you can call Aduan MBPP hotline at 04-2637000 or WhatsApp to 016-200 4082.
