Malaysian youths can redeem their RM150 eWallet credit starting tomorrow, 8am on 11th April 2022. The eWallet credit is offered under the ePemula programme which was announced during the tabling of Budget 2022. The programme is similar to last year’s eBelia eWallet initiative.
As announced earlier, youths can redeem the credit through one of four participating eWallets namely BigPay, Grab, Shopee and Touch ‘n Go eWallet. The programme is open to Malaysians aged 18 to 20 years old (born between 2002 to 2004), or studying full time at a registered institution of higher learning (diploma, SKM4, or registered IPT).
According to the Ministry of Finance, the ePemula registration and redemption will be running from 11th April until 1st June 2022. The redeemed credit must be utilised by 10th June 2022. In addition to the RM150 credit, the participating eWallet providers will be offering extra benefits and incentives in the form of cashback, vouchers, points, or coins throughout the programme period.
Take note that youths can only redeem the RM150 once from their preferred eWallet and the account must be verified with their IC. The Ministry of Finance added that the redemption application will be cross-checked with data from local institutions of higher learning as well as government database records.

The ePemula programme which was previously introduced as “eStart” is expected to benefit a total of 2 million youths. The government has allocated a total budget of RM300 million under Budget 2022. The Ministry of Finance has also reminded small and medium businesses to adopt cashless transactions in order to benefit from the ePemula program. It added that the four participating eWallets have a network of over 1.2 million merchants nationwide.
