During today’s special announcement by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the government is offering RM100 in cash aid for all adults in Malaysia under the SARA (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah) programme. The one-off RM100 cash aid can be redeemed via MyKad to buy essential goods at over 4,100 retail outlets which include Mydin, Lotus, Econsave and 99Speedmart.

This RM100 cash aid is given individually and not per household. This means a family with four adults (husband, wife and two children above 18 years old), can redeem a total of RM400.
This SARA programme is expected to benefit 22 million Malaysian citizens with a budget allocation of RM2 bilion. This means the total allocation for STR and SARA will increase from RM13 billion to RM15 billion to 2025. According to the Prime Minister, this is the first time cash aid is given to all adult citizens.
In addition, the Prime Minister also announced that the price of RON95 petrol will be reduced from RM2.05 per litre to RM1.99 per litre. This price reduction will require a MyKad and it will benefit 18 million Malaysians including users of motorcycle, passenger vehicles and gig workers. The full details will be finalised by end of September.
Besides that, the government has also declared 15th September 2025 as an additional public holiday for Malaysia Day. This makes 13th-16th September a long 4-day holiday weekend.
The government has also announced no toll increase for 10 major highways which are due for an increase under the contract. To maintain the toll rates, the government will bear a cost of over RM500 million.
