Tesla Model Y Launch Series no longer available in Malaysia, LR AWD slightly slower without Acceleration Boost

If you’re considering of getting the Tesla Model Y “Juniper” but have yet to place an order, you’ll be losing a couple of extras accessories and features that were provided earlier. As teased on Tesla Malaysia’s Instagram stories few weeks ago, the Tesla Model Y Launch Series will no longer be offered after 31st March 2025.

As a result, any new Tesla Model Y orders made from April 2025 onward will not come with the extra freebies and there are no changes in pricing for Malaysia.

Tesla Model Y “Juniper” Non-Launch Series Pricing

To recap, the new Tesla Model Y for 2025 was officially introduced in January and customers can secure their units online with a RM1,000 order fee. The Standard Range RWD model is priced from RM195,450, while the Long Range AWD is priced from RM242,450.

For the Launch Series, Tesla is providing extra Launch Series Badge on the boot, puddle light, doorsill plate and on the wireless charging console. It also comes with Vegan Suede finishing for the Black Interior, and if you go for the Long Range AWD model, Tesla is adding the Acceleration Boost for free that unlocks a quicker 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds.

Without the Launch Series, Tesla Malaysia still retains the same pricing for both RWD and LR AWD models which start from RM195,450 and RM242,450 respectively. If you place your booking now, the expected delivery date for your new EV is between July to September 2025.

Similar as before, the “free” body colour is Stealth Grey, and you’ll have to pay extra for other colours as listed below:

  • White – RM5,000
  • Glacier Blue – RM7,500
  • Quicksilver – RM11,000
  • Ultra Red – RM11,000

To switch from Black to Black and White Interior with white seats, that would cost you an additional RM5,000. Meanwhile, swapping the 19″ Crossflow Wheels to 20″ Helix 2.0 Wheels will cost you an extra RM10,000.

Tesla’s Basic Autopilot which provides adaptive cruise control is included for free. If you want Enhanced Autopilot which unlocks Navigate on Autopilot, AutoPark and Dumb Summon, that would cost you RM16,000. The Full Self-Driving (FSD) package costs RM32,000, but take note that it isn’t enabled for the Malaysian market yet.

Tesla Model Y “Juniper” Specs and Features

The new Tesla Model Y “Juniper” for 2025 has been upgraded with a more aerodynamic design plus extra practical features. Besides having a full width Cybertruck-style lightbar for the front and an indirect lightbar for the rear, the new Tesla Model Y is actually more aerodynamic with a drag coefficient of just 0.22Cd.

As a result, the new EV offers more range with the RWD model capable of WLTP-rated range of up to 466km (11km more than before) while the LR AWD model boasts up to 551km (18km more than before) on a single charge. The new Model Y is also quicker too with the standard model having a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds, up to a top speed of 201km/h. Meanwhile, the LR AWD model does the century sprint in just 4.8 seconds (0.5s slower without Acceleration Boost), and it is also speed limited at 201km/h. There’s no new Tesla Model Y Performance model yet, but we reckon that it will be introduced at a later time.

With the new 2025 model, you also get a refreshed interior which include ventilated front seats, powered second row seats and a secondary 8″ infotainment display for the rear. While the gear selector now uses swiping gestures on the touch screen, the new Tesla Model Y still retains a signal stalk which is better for usability. As a backup, you also get ceiling mounted P-R-N-D gear selector buttons on the roof, similar to the new Tesla Model 3 “Highland”.

The new Model Y still features a large which now comes with an added drain plug, making it practical to use it as an ice box to store your drinks or other perishables. The new model also gets a front camera that sits below the number plate holder for enhanced visibility for autopilot and Actually Smart Summon (ASS).

Both Tesla Model Y supports AC charging up to 11kW. For DC charging, the Model Y RWD supports up to 175kW, while the LR AWD model supports up to 250kW, when plugged in to a Tesla Supercharger.
