Communications and Multimedia Ministry wants your feedback on the Emergency proclamation

A state of emergency has been declared in Malaysia last month with the intention to curb and suppress the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. As announced by His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the emergency proclamation will take into effect until the 1st of August 2021 or until the COVID-19 situation is under control.

Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia has introduced a dedicated telegram channel and email address to gather feedback from the people. To share your views, you can join the “Saluran Maklumat Darurat” telegram channel or by scanning the QR code below. Alternatively, you can drop an email to maklumbalasdarurat [@] kkmm.gov.my.

According to the Ministry, the collected feedback will be forwarded to the Emergency Management Technical Committee for the purpose of improving the implementation of the emergency to curb the spread of COVID-19. It added that the open channel would allow the administration to listen and to consider the views of the people.

As announced by the Prime Minister, there won’t be any curfew or elections during the emergency period. He clarified that this isn’t a military coup and the government is still functioning as usual.

Despite the declaration of the Movement Control Order (MCO 2.0) and the emergency, the number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia has continued to surge in the past few weeks. Malaysia had recorded three days of over 5,000 new cases before it started to dip to 3,455 new cases yesterday. Overall, there are a total of 222,628 positive cases and 791 deaths recorded so far.

Yesterday, the National Security Council has announced another two-week extension for the MCO until 18th February in all states except for Sarawak. During this period, interstate travel is still not permitted.
