For many, the hardest part of saving isn’t the intention but the consistency. Between monthly bills and daily cravings, the spare change we intend to set aside often disappears before it hits a savings account.

Maybank is looking to change that friction point with its latest update to Tabung, the digital savings feature within the MAE app. From 25 May to 24 August 2026, the bank is introducing a Tabung Daily Bonus campaign designed to provide immediate rewards for those who hit their daily saving milestones.
How the Tabung Daily Bonus Works
The mechanic is straightforward and focuses on a daily reward system rather than making you wait until the end of the year for interest payouts.
The Math: Earning 4.29% p.a.
To participate, you need to create a Tabung and include the word ‘BONUS’ in its name. The core of the campaign lies in the daily reward for maintaining a specific balance:
- The Milestone: Maintain an end-of-day balance of RM850 in your ‘BONUS’ Tabung.
- The Reward: Maybank will credit RM0.10 into that Tabung the very next day (T+1).
- The Equivalent: This RM0.10 daily reward on an RM850 balance is equivalent to an interest rate of 4.29% p.a.

You can maximise these earnings by managing multiple Tabungs. If you maintain the required balance across 5 eligible Tabungs for the full 92-day campaign, your total daily bonuses would add up to RM46 (RM0.10 x 92 days x 5 Tabungs).
A New Look for Saving: The UX/UI Update

Apart from the enhanced experience of a T+1 day bonus crediting, Maybank has introduced visual cues to make the process more informative and interactive:
- Enhanced Features: ‘Bonus’ Tabungs that are named correctly have a glowing green outline on their banner, whilst the Bonus counter displays either total bonuses or daily bonus (earned the previous day) that has been credited to your Tabung.
- Instant Gratification: Bonuses are credited the next day, and users will receive a push notification once the bonus has been credited into their Tabung.
- Transparency: The new UI makes it easier to track your bonuses, whilst the push notification keeps you informed as soon as the bonus has been credited to you.
Beyond the daily bonus, there is an added incentive for those moving funds into their Maybank accounts.
There will also be a Lucky Draw where 2,000 winners will receive an additional RM50 bonus. To earn an entry, you must transfer a minimum of RM200 (money from other banks or e-wallets) into your Maybank account and include ‘Bonus’ in the recipient reference field. Every RM200 transferred counts as one entry.
Automation: The Secret to Consistency

The Daily Bonus acts as the carrot, but the foundation of the Tabung feature remains its automation tools. For those who find it hard to manually move money, the MAE app offers:
- Auto Deduction: Set a fixed amount to be moved to your savings regularly.
- Boosters: These are lifestyle triggers that save for you. For example, the Spare Change booster rounds up your purchases and saves the difference, while Scan & Save puts money aside every time you pay via QR.
The Bottom Line

Maybank’s Tabung has evolved from a simple digital piggy bank into a more gamified, transparent tool. By offering a daily reward equivalent to 4.29% p.a., the bank is aiming to make the act of saving feel less like a chore and more like a daily win.
