Malaysia Airlines receives its 200th Boeing aircraft with latest 737-8 delivery

Malaysia Airlines has marked a major fleet milestone with the arrival of its latest Boeing 737-8, which also represents the 200th Boeing aircraft delivered to the airline since 1972.

The newly delivered aircraft is also the fourth Boeing 737-8 received by the airline this year, and the 18th Boeing 737-8 delivered so far from MAG’s current order.

According to Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the aircraft bearing registration number 9M-MVR departed Boeing’s Seattle Delivery Centre on 21st May 2026 at 2:00pm local time. The aircraft made refuelling stops in Honolulu and Guam before arriving at KL International Airport (KLIA) on 24th May 2026 at 1:30pm.

The 737-8 delivery flight (MH5045) took 19 hours and 44 minutes and was flown by Captain Arian Syazwara B. Adenan, Captain Mohd Aidilputra bin Abd Razak and First Officer Ahmad Asnawi bin Ahmad Rahman.

MAG President and Group Chief Executive Officer Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar said, “This delivery holds special significance as it marks the 200th Boeing aircraft to join the Malaysia Airlines fleet since 1972. More than just an addition to our fleet, this milestone reflects a long-standing operational history that has supported our capacity growth and fleet evolution over the decades as we continue our deep-seated mission to connecting Malaysia to the world. The introduction of these next-generation aircraft will further strengthen our ability to support future growth opportunities and evolving market needs, while continuing to deliver a more modern and comfortable travel experience for our customers.”

Malaysia Airlines shared that its fleet history reflects a significant scale and ambition, including widebody aircraft such as the Boeing 747 and Boeing 777, which supported the airline’s long-haul capabilities and global connectivity during previous key growth phases. It added that with the evolution of the Boeing 737 family, these aircraft reflect how the airline that has continuously adapted, modernised and expanded its reach over the decades.

MAG added that the Boeing 737-8 plays a key role in supporting the group’s narrowbody operations, offering greater fuel efficiency, improved reliability and enhanced passenger comfort.

So far MAG has taken delivery of 18 Boeing 737-8 aircraft from its total order of 55 Boeing narrowbody aircraft. The order consists of 43 Boeing 737-8s and 12 Boeing 737-10s, with deliveries scheduled through to 2030.
