Malaysia Airlines updates Enrich programme for 2026 with more rewards and higher Elite Status requirements

Malaysia Airlines has announced a revision to its Enrich loyalty programme which will take effect on 1st January 2026.

According to the national flag carrier, the way you earn Enrich Points and Elite Points, as well as qualify for Elite Status, will be refreshed to provide greater value, recognition and rewards for your loyalty.

On the surface, frequent flyers will be earning more points per RM1 spent and they will also earn more Elite Points especially for long haul flights. However, the Elite Points requirement for Elite Status will increase starting from qualifying year 2027.

Higher Enrich Points earnings

Silver, Gold and Platinum members will be rewarded with more Enrich Points for every RM1. Starting from 1st January 2026, Silver Tier members get 1.8 points per RM1, Gold gets 2.2 points and Platinum gets 2.5 points. Meanwhile, the base Blue tier still gets 1.5 points for every RM1.

Up to 8 more Elite Points for long haul flights

When it comes to Elite Points, which is used to qualify for higher membership status, Enrich members will earn more points for longer flights, especially in Business Class or Business Suite.

As shown in the table below for flights flown from 1st January 2026 onward, Economy Class passengers can earn 1 to 2 points extra for flights covering a distance of over 1200 miles. Meanwhile, Business class passengers will get 1 to 5 more points, and Business Suite customers earn 2 to 8 more points for flights covering distances of over 500 miles.

Based on the estimated example shown by Malaysia Airlines, a one-way flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney would currently reward you with 6 Elite Points in Economy and 8 Elite Points in Business Class. Starting next year, the same flight will reward you with 8 Elite Points (2 more) in Economy and 12 Elite Points (4 more) in Business.

Enrich Platinum requires 40 more points

Besides having more opportunity to earn more Enrich Points and Elite Points, Malaysia Airlines has also revised the Elite Status requirements. For 2026 qualification it remains unchanged with 30 Elite Points for Silver, 60 Elite Points for Gold and 100 Elite Points for Platinum.

However, for 2027 Qualification, you will need to accumulate more points to maintain your status especially for the highest Platinum Level.

To maintain Silver the following year, you’ll need to have 35 Elite Points (5 more) and for Gold you’ll need to have 70 Elite Points (10 more). Meanwhile, the highest-tier Platinum status will require 140 points (40 more), which is a huge jump.

Enhanced Enrich Silver gets more baggage allowance and priority handling

Malaysia Airlines has also updated its Enrich benefits especially for Enrich Silver. The second tier now gets 10kg of Extra Bag Allowance (currently 5kg) and Priority Baggage Handling starting 1st January 2026.

Meanwhile, Lounge access entitlement for the Platinum Companion will no longer be extended to their guest.

In addition, physical Enrich cards will only be issued to Enrich Gold and Enrich Platinum members only.

Recommended ways to fast-track your Elite Status

Besides completing more flights, Malaysia Airlines has suggested several ways to earn more Elite Points and to fast-track your Elite Status. This includes earning 1 Elite Point when you redeem flights on Malaysia Airlines with Enrich Points + Cash and get 1 Elite Point for every 8,000 Points earned for each eligible Enrich Hotels reservation.

In addition, you can also earn Elite Points based on flown cabin (Business Class / Business Suite) when you book a seat upgrade on Malaysia Airlines.

The easiest way to fast-track your Elite Status is to sign up for AmBank Enrich Visa Credit Cards. With the co-branded card, the primary cardholder gets a 30% reduction in Elite Points requirement. If the terms remain unchanged, this means you’ll only need 98 Elite Points instead of 140 Elite Points to qualify for Enrich Platinum in 2027.
