Nothing Phone (3a) Pro revealed. Check out the massive camera bump

The Nothing Phone (3a) series is set to launch next week on 4th March 2025. This is their premium mid-range offering which will succeed the current Nothing Phone (2a) lineup. Ahead of the official announcement, Nothing has revealed the design of the Phone (3a) Pro and it looks nothing like the previous leaked prototypes.

What stands out the most is its huge camera bump which seems to divide opinions about its looks.

For the first time, Nothing is finally going for a triple-camera array for its smartphone which now features a periscope telephoto camera. While it still retains the semi-transparent design aesthetic, Nothing has opted for a large protruding camera module to ensure a slim feeling form factor when held in the hands.

As you would expect from Nothing, there’s also the illuminated Glyph interface that consists of three LED strips around the camera bump.

While some may argue that the huge camera bump is hideous, it is obvious that Nothing’s main objective is to stand out. Honestly, it looks quite refreshing, and the design will certainly grab attention amid the sea of boring and predictable-looking candy bar smartphones.

The new Nothing Phone (3a) Pro comes in two colours and it looks quite premium. Besides the aluminium frame, the new device also gets a new dedicated button that comes with a polished finish. Unlike its predecessor which uses a plastic back, Nothing has decided to use a glass back for greater clarity of the “transparent” details and for a more upmarket feel.

The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro is expected to feature a 6.67″ Full HD+ 120Hz OLED display and it runs on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip. In the camera department, the triple-camera setup consists of a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS that’s capable of doing 3x optical zoom and up to 60x “ultra” zoom. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 50MP front camera.

Similar to the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus, the new “Plus” device is expected to come with a 5,000mAh battery with 50W fast wired charging via USB-C. So far they have yet to reveal the design of the Nothing Phone (3a), and we reckon that they will continue to drop more clues leading up to the global launch next week.

Looking at the previous Nothing Phone launches, we expect Malaysia to be among the first wave countries to receive the Nothing Phone (3a) series. Traditionally, Nothing Malaysia will announced a limited drop for the first batch of devices through fashion retailer, Crossover.

With the new camera and build quality improvements, it would be interesting to see if Nothing would be able to price these new smartphones under RM2,000. As a reference, the current Nothing Phone (2a) with a Dimensity 7200 Pro chip was launched for RM1,699, while the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus with a Dimensity 7350 Pro chip was launched for RM1,999.
