There are now more cheaper electric vehicle options in Malaysia with the arrival of more EV models from China. Besides the Ora Good Cat and the BYD Atto 3, the Neta V has recently made headlines with its sub-RM100,000 price tag. The Neta V is currently the cheapest EV but is it worth spending RM100,000 for it? That’s what we try to find out in the latest episode of Let’s Talk About.
To recap, the Neta V is priced at RM99,800 and it is a five-seater EV which is about the size of a Perodua Myvi. It gets a single motor powering the front wheels with 70kW (94hp) and 150Nm of torque. The Neta V has a rated acceleration time of 3.9 seconds to get from 0-50km/h and it has a top-speed of 120km/h.
Being a budget EV, the Neta V gets a 38.5kWh battery which has a rated NEDC range of 380km on a single charge. It supports 6.6kW AC charging as well as up to 100kW DC fast charging. Getting 30-80% charge is rated to take 30 minutes on a DC fast charger.
For RM100,000, the Neta V goes head to head with the likes of the top-spec Honda City, Toyota Vios and even the Proton X50. Is there a compelling reason to get the Neta V over petrol-powered vehicles in the price range, or should you just top up and get better EV options like the Good Cat or Atto 3?
