It highlighted that these fake devices pose a significant risk to consumers who may unknowingly purchase them through unofficial sources. Besides the lack of official warranty and support, using these counterfeit devices could be a potential safety hazard and data security risk.
According to Vivo, they have identified common models that have been prime targets for counterfeiting. This includes the Vivo S1, S1 Pro, V11i, V15, V3, V9, V9 Youth, Y11, Y12, Y17, Y19, Y20, Y31, Y50, Y55, Y66, Y67, Y71, Y7S, Y81, Y83, Y85, Y93 and Y93s.
To check if your Vivo device is genuine, you can check online from Vivo Malaysia’s IMEI checker. From the page, you can enter your phone’s IMEI1 number which you can find by dialling *#06#. If the Vivo device is genuine, it will show all the relevant details including product model number, colour and warranty expiry date. The device is fake if the website fails to return any results.
