Audi e-tron GT Malaysia: All electric 4-door coupe with 530hp and up to 458km range priced from RM559k

Months after it was first confirmed by the company, the official Malaysian distributor for Audi, PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) has officially launched the first batch of e-tron pure electric vehicles in our market today. Interestingly, the launch is not only for just one or two releases but instead, it covered seven variants across three models.

Part of the list is the e-tron GT Quattro, built using the J1 Platform similar to another EV within the Volkswagen Group, the Porsche Taycan. In case you are wondering, yes, the e-tron GT is the same car that Tony Stark drove in the Avengers: Endgame albeit that version was still in prototype form.

Audi e-tron GT Quattro and RS e-tron GT Malaysia price

The base e-tron GT starts at RM587,990 not inclusive of insurance. With the Dynamic Package, the price would then increase to RM666,990. If you prefer the RS version instead, then the pricing you are looking at starts at RM792,990.

In Malaysia, all Audi e-tron models are provided with a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty and 5-year complimentary roadside assistance as standard although the high voltage batteries within them have a separate 8-year 160,000km warranty. Customers can opt for the Audi Assurance Package which adds another 3 years to the warranty together with 3 years of maintenance at 15,000km service intervals.

Customers will also be provided with RM1,000 EV charging credits with a 1-year validity that they can use at JomCharge chargers throughout Malaysia. Each vehicle will also be accompanied by the portable e-tron Charging System Compact that allows customers to charge their e-tron EVs through a 3-pin plug.

Power output, battery capacity, charging time, and range

The sporty four-door all-electric model is equipped with two electric motors that allow it to have an all-wheel drive setup. Alongside a power output of up to 390kW (530hp) as well as 640Nm of torque, Audi said that the EV can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds.

The 93.4kWh battery allows the e-tron GT to travel up to 458km, according to the WLTP cycle. For those who looking for even more kick, the higher-end RS e-tron GT option brings things up a notch with 475kW (646hp) maximum power output, 830Nm maximum torque, and 0 to 100km/h acceleration of 3.3 seconds although the rated driving range is slightly lower at 447km.

As for charging, the standard e-tron GT is equipped with an 11kW onboard AC charger. If one prefers to have the 22kW AC charger capability instead, then they have to opt for the Dynamic Package or move up to the RS e-tron GT instead.

When it comes to DC charging, both e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT which feature 800V architecture can support DC fast chargers with energy output as high as 270kW. This allows these new EV to be charged from 5% to 80% in under 23 minutes.

Dynamic Package upgrades and the RS advantage

By now, you most probably have noticed that we have mentioned Dynamic Package several times in this story but what is it actually about? Well, it is actually a set of upgrades that elevates the base e-tron GT to a slightly higher level but still not as fully packed as the RS model.

In addition to having the onboard AC charger upgraded from 11kW to 22kW, the Dynamic Package also added Matrix LED headlamps with Audi laser light just like the RS variant. Similarly, it also provides the carbon roof, steel brakes with tungsten carbide coating, and red brake callipers to the e-tron GT.

As opposed to a leatherette interior, the e-tron GT with Dynamic Package is equipped with a combination of Nappa leather and Dinamica microfiber. Furthermore, there is also Bang & Olufsen sound system with 3D surround sound capability and a head-up display.

Being the top-of-the-range model, the RS e-tron GT brings things further. Aside from additional performance as well as a glossy carbon appearance package on the outside and decorative inserts in matte carbon twill, it also comes with adaptive air suspension, all-wheel steering, and a controlled rear differential lock.

Malaysia’s allocations for 2023 are fully booked

At the launch event today, PHSAM’s Brand Manager Suresh Dorai said that the e-tron EVs which include the Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback have received overwhelming responses from customers since they were first previewed in Malaysia four months ago. This is to the extent that all of 2023’s allocations for Malaysia have already been fully booked.

Despite that, he insisted that customers who are interested in getting any of these high-performance EVs to place their bookings anyway while the company is working to secure more units for our market. On that note, just head on to Audi Malaysia’s official website if you want to learn more about the new e-tron GT Quattro and RS e-tron GT.
