Shell Recharge offers 100% rebate for DC fast chargers along PLUS Highway this Raya season

Besides enjoying a toll-free journey this Raya holiday on 19, 20, 22 and 24th April, electric vehicle owners can also enjoy “free charging” at Shell Recharge EV charging stations along the North-South Expressway in the coming weeks. Shell Recharge in partnership with ParkEasy is offering a 100% ParkEasy credit rebate this Raya from 19th April until 3rd May 2023.

The Shell Recharge stations offer DC fast charging up to 180kW. Typically, these charger costs RM4.00 per minute, making them the most expensive EV charger in Malaysia. On top of that, you’ll need to reload and maintain a minimum credit balance of RM200 in the ParkEasy app (Google Play Store, Apple App Store) before you can activate the charger.

While the chargers can support up to 120kW or 180kW, the actual charging rate depends on your EV’s maximum supported DC charging rate and also the state of charge (battery percentage). For example, the BYD Atto 3 (Extended Range) only supports a maximum of up to 80kW. Meanwhile, 800V-based EVs including the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Porsche Taycan and the Lotus Eletre can support over 230kW for DC charging.

Under this promotion, users can get 100% ParkEasy credits rebate which effectively makes this free EV charging. According to the fine print, the credits will be reimbursed to your account after the campaign period and you can use it for future charging usage. The campaign ends on 3rd May, so you would probably get all your credit rebates only after the Raya holidays. If you need any assistance, you can contact ParkEasy at +6016 299 1468.

There are currently 7 Shell Recharge stations and here are the locations:

Southbound

  • Tangkak, Johor
  • Seremban, Negeri Sembilan
  • Tapah, Perak
  • Skudai, Johor

Northbound

  • Pagoh, Johor
  • Seremban, Negeri Sembilan
  • Simpang Pulai, Ipoh

As always, do practice good EV charging etiquette such as moving your vehicle when you’re done charging. Due to the peak season with more EVs on the road, it is advisable to only charge what you need. It isn’t recommended to charge your EV up to 100% as the charging rate between 80-100% is significantly slower and takes a long time.

In case you missed it, TNB Electron is also offering free DC EV charging at its stations located at Tapah, Paka and Ayer Keroh R&Rs.
