With more brands cashing in on gaming-centric smartphone lineup, it appears that Lenovo is calling it quits for its Legion smartphone brand. There have been rumours about the grim situation and there’s finally a confirmation from Lenovo themselves.
The folks at Android Authority have reached out to Lenovo for a comment and the Chinese tech firm has confirmed that it has ended its Legion phone business.

Lenovo is discontinuing its Android-based Legion mobile gaming phones as part of a wider business transformation and gaming portfolio consolidation. As a leader in gaming devices and solutions, Lenovo is committed to advancing the gaming category across form factors, as well as focusing on where it can bring the most value to the global gaming community.

Lenovo has introduced two gaming-centric smartphones so far, the Legion Phone Duel and the Phone Duel 2. The Duel 2 was introduced in 2021 with a starting price of RM3,299. It came with a Snapdragon 888 chip that’s cooled with a built-in twin turbo fan that can spin up to 15,000RPM.
The flagship gaming segment has been quite competitive with Asus leading the pack with its ROG Phone series. The Taiwanese brand has confirmed that it will be launching the ROG Phone 7 on the 13th of April. There are other notable competitors as well such as Xiaomi-backed BlackShark and Nubia Red Magic. Unlike your typical run-of-the-mill flagship devices, these gaming-centric phones often come with shoulder buttons, improved cooling and larger batteries for an optimal mobile gaming experience.
Despite the smartphone exit, Lenovo is still using the Legion brand for its gaming-focused computers. Recently, the company introduced LOQ (pronounced as lock), a new lineup that focuses on entry-level gaming laptops and PCs. The LOQ sub-brand would compete with similar “affordable” offerings like Acer’s Nitro and Asus TUF series.
