After launching it in China late last year, Xiaomi has finally showcased their latest flagship smartphone lineup to the world, the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro. They both have what you’d expect from a flagship smartphone, such as the latest chip, an IP68 rating and high refresh rate displays, but the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro are fairly different smartphones altogether.
Xiaomi 13 Pro specs
Starting off with the larger, more premium device, the Xiaomi 13 Pro features a 6.73-inch, curved edge AMOLED display using an E6 OLED panel that’s capable of a WQHD+ resolution and a 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate. It also has a 240Hz touch sampling rate, a peak brightness of 1900nits, full coverage of the P3 colour gamut as well as support for HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. There’s a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus up front, while the back of the Xiaomi 13 Pro is made of bio-ceramic for a sleek finish.
Under the hood, you’re getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, mated to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. You’ll also get MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box, with Xiaomi guaranteeing at least three years of major Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches too.
The real star of the show though is the ‘pro-grade’ camera setup featuring Leica lenses. The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a main 50MP, f/1.9 camera using the Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor flanked by a 50MP, f/2.0 telephoto camera equivalent to a 75mm portrait lens as well as a 50MP, f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera. You’ll also get to pick between a Leica Authentic Look and a Leica Vibrant Look in the camera settings to set the optimal colour and mood for your shots. In front meanwhile is a 32MP, f/2.0 selfie camera.
Elsewhere, there’s a 4,820mAh battery with 120W HyperCharge fast charging that Xiaomi claims will be able to get you a 100% charge in just 19 minutes, and the best part is perhaps that you’re getting that 120W charger in the box too. There’s 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging too, along with support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and NFC. There’s stereo speakers too, along with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
As for pricing and availability, we’ll have to wait just a little bit more for the local details for the Xiaomi 13 Pro, but we do know that it’ll start at EUR1,299 (~RM6,095.56) in Europe.
Xiaomi 13 specs
On the other end of the spectrum meanwhile is the much more tame Xiaomi 13 itself. It’s a much more compact flagship device, packing a 6.36-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display using an E6 OLED panel pushing a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It too has 1900nits of peak brightness with full coverage of the P3 colour gamut, support for HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and has a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 for scratch resistance. The flat edges and square camera bump though does make it look reminiscent of an iPhone.
Despite a smaller body, the Xiaomi 13 still packs Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system-on-chip, mated to up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Xiaomi 13 will also come with MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box, and just like its Pro sibling will come with three years of Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches.
As for the camera department, the Xiaomi 13 loses out on that Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor, but still packs a pretty respectable camera setup, complete with the Leica branding on it. It features a main 50MP, f/1.8 camera coupled with the Sony IMX800 sensor, flanked by a 10MP, f/2.0 telephoto camera equivalent to a 75mm lens as well as a 12MP, f/2.2 ultrawide shooter. Just like the Xiaomi 13 Pro, you can also choose between the Leica Authentic or Leica Vibrant colour presets. Selfies meanwhile get taken care of by a 32MP, f/2.0 front camera.
Elsewhere, a 4,500mAh keeps the lights on with support for 67W fast charging, 50W wireless charging an 10W reverse wireless charging. Xiaomi claims that the included 67W charger will be able to juice up the Xiaomi 13 to 100% in just 38 minutes. There’s an in-display fingerprint sensor too, along with stereo speakers, an IP68 rating and support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and NFC.
