Logitech’s new Logi Dock is a speaker, charger, and connection hub all in one

During this pandemic, more and more people are working and studying from home. Logitech is cashing in on this growing demographic with the Logi Dock: an all-in-one docking station with meeting controls and a speakerphone.

What exactly does the Logi Dock do? It’s probably the first of its kind, combining multiple product ideas into one. The dock can connect up to five USB peripherals and up to two monitors. Its primary function is to declutter your workspace by getting rid of unwanted cables and cords. Instead of connecting up separate speakers and a microphone, the Logi Dock acts as both at the same time, and is specifically made for meetings.

The USB-C upstream port on the dock allows for you to deliver 100W of charging power to your laptop, so you won’t have to plug a separate power adapter. USB’s Power Delivery protocol makes it so the 100W will not damage equipment rated for lower voltages, so it will work with most laptops including Apple’s current MacBook Pro 16-inch.

Internally, the Logi Dock has six beamforming microphones and custom 55mm neodymium audio drivers so you can listen to music or take part in digital conferences. The microphone array has built-in noise-cancelling to make your voice sound even clearer.

To further enhance the meeting experience, the device has controls specifically made to make work meetings easier.

When a meeting is about to start, the Logi Dock will actually display lights at the bottom to indicate that you can join, thanks to the calendar integration through the Logi Tune peripheral control app. The button in the middle allows for you to join the meeting with just one touch.

You can mute and unmute the microphones by tapping on the button on the left, and turn your video on and off by tapping the button on the right. These controls work in Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom. The other two buttons are for volume up and down.

The design of the Logi Dock is quite minimal and clean, with the majority of the ports on the rear. The ports include two USB-A 3.0 ports, three USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 ports, a DisplayPort, an HDMI port, USB-C upstream, and a Kensington lock slot. There is also a Bluetooth pairing button on the back which allows you to use the device as a regular Bluetooth speaker if you so wish.

The Logi Dock is in Q4 of 2021, and will be available in graphite and white colours. The retail price will be 399 USD (about RM1,655), and local Malaysian pricing has not been announced yet. Find out more on their product page.
