Grab has finally launched its first GrabKitchen in Malaysia which offers several restaurant options under one roof. This allows customers to order food from multiple restaurants with just one delivery fee and it also allows businesses and independent brands to grow and expand more efficiently.
According to Grab, their first GrabKitchen in the country is located in Hartamas and it houses 11 popular brands in one central cloud kitchen. This includes Kenny Rogers Roasters, Salad Atelier, Tasty Chapathi, LFC, MyBurgerLab and more.
GrabKitchen was first introduced in Jakarta in 2018 and they have expanded to 55 cloud kitchens throughout Southeast Asia including Singapore. Grab Malaysia Managing Director, Sean Goh said, “Our regional experience with GrabKitchen makes us a suitable partner for F&B operators to expand their operations to address the growing evolution of the food industry and customers’ needs. Not only is the GrabKitchen concept a unique and cost-efficient model for F&B operators, but they will also have ready access to our merchant support tools, strong delivery network and wide customer base.”
Sean added that they have observed the financial impact of the pandemic on restaurants and brands, and GrabKitchen can help its partners by offering a cost effective way of expanding their business. The cloud kitchen model is seen as a lower risk option for restaurants to expand to new areas without extensive financial investment.
The location and curated list of high quality brands for each GrabKitchen outlet are picked based on gaps in the market. This would offer brands a higher chance of performing better without the marketing burden of managing and promoting an outlet on their own. Grab added that F&B brands in the region have enjoyed 1.6x more sales in GrabKitchens than their regular outlets.
For consumers, GrabKitchen offers more variety and affordability. Based on customers’ insights and food preference, it offers a variety of favourites from Malaysian delights to western cuisines. Customers can ‘mix and match’ their orders from over 10 popular brands while only paying one delivery fee, which is great for sharing or to enjoy a wider variety of dishes.
Grab assures that it has met all health and safety requirements by requiring all merchants and delivery partners to scan their MySejahtera app, have their temperature checked and always have their face mask on while practicing social distancing. The GrabKitchen is also cleaned and sanitised daily for a high level of food safety.
Grab plans to expand its network of GrabKitchens throughout Malaysia to help more brands stretch and grow their business. With the current MCO, GrabKitchen is available from 10am to 10pm daily and the final order must be placed by 9.20pm.
To place an order from this outlet, just search for “GrabKitchen Hartamas” under GrabFood. In case you’re wondering, you can also enjoy zero delivery fee if you opt for the self-pickup option.
Grab is available for download on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
