Barely 3 months after the Xiaomi 17 series was released in Malaysia, Xiaomi Malaysia will soon introduce its new Xiaomi 17T lineup. This is supposedly the more affordable flagship smartphone series which also offers Leica co-engineered cameras.
The timing of the Xiaomi 17T launch is quite unusual as the T series flagship is usually released within the second half of the year.
The previous Xiaomi 15T, Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 13T were all launched in September.
Xiaomi 17T Malaysia Launch happening on 28 May 2026

As revealed by Xiaomi Malaysia, the Xiaomi 17T series launch is taking place on Thursday, 28th May 2026. You can watch the launch event at 8:00pm on Xiaomi’s official website and you can expect online sales to begin shortly after the live stream event.
According to their launch event page, the Xiaomi 17T series will come with 4-month trial of Spotify Premium, 3-month trial of YouTube Premium and 3-month trial of Google AI Pro. The device also comes with a 24-month quality assurance and one free screen replacement service within 6 months.
What to expect from the Xiaomi 17T series?

Xiaomi Malaysia has already revealed the design of the Xiaomi 17T on their social media channels. It looks identical to the current Xiaomi 15T series especially the rounded square camera bump.
Unlike its predecessors where the standard and Pro model retain the same screen size, the new Xiaomi 17T series will be offered in two sizes. This could be good news for users who prefer a more compact smartphone option.
In terms of imaging, the Xiaomi 17T still offers Leica co-developed cameras and the key highlight is a 5x optical telephoto zoom camera. If you want to punch in further, it also boasts 10x optical-quality zoom and up to 120x ultra AI zoom.

Based on speculation and leaked specs, the Xiaomi 17T will feature a smaller 6.59″ 120Hz 2756×1268 pixels resolution display while the 17T Pro comes with a larger 6.83″ 144Hz 2772×1280 pixels resolution display.
Under the hood, the smaller 17T gets an updated MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra while the larger 17T Pro gets a higher-tier Dimensity 9500 chip.

It is also said that all variants will feature a 50MP main camera, 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Meanwhile, the front is said to feature a 32MP selfie shooter.
Both Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro are expected to get a good upgrade in capacity with 6,500mAh and 7,000mAh respectively. The standard model is expected to support 67W fast wired charging while the Pro version is said to support 100W fast wired as well as 50W fast wireless charging.
All details including pricing will be revealed this coming Thursday evening.
As a reference, last year’s Xiaomi 15T was priced from RM1,899 while the Xiaomi 15 Pro was priced from RM2,699 in Malaysia.
