Check your MyKad. Malaysians with faulty MyKad to pay RM2.50 per litre for RON95 petrol

Minister of Home Affairs Saifuddin Nasution has urged Malaysians to check and ensure that their MyKad is functioning ahead of the targeted RON95 fuel subsidy that’s expected to be implemented by the end of September.

As announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in July, the price of subsidised RON95 petrol will be reduced from RM2.05 per litre to RM1.99 per litre.

However, this reduced pricing is strictly for Malaysians only and it will require MyKad verification at the pump. The full details are expected to be revealed by end of September 2025.

Functioning MyKad required to enjoy RM1.99/litre price for RON95 petrol

Since the RM1.99 per litre pricing requires MyKad verification, Saifuddin has urged Malaysians for check if their MyKad is working. If the chip is faulty or having difficulty to read, you are urged to apply for a replacement at the nearest National Registration Department (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara) office or counter nationwide as soon as possible.

The replacement MyKad can be issued on the same day (at selected locations) and the Minister has reminded everyone not to wait until the last minute.

He said to enjoy the RM1.99 per litre price, it is compulsory to use the MyKad to ensure that you’re an eligible Malaysian citizen. Without the MyKad, you won’t be able to enjoy the subsidised fuel prices.

He stressed that the MyKad replacement (if required) must be done immediately so that you can enjoy the subsidised RON95 pricing.

If the chip is faulty, he said Malaysians are still allowed to buy RON95 petrol, however, they will have to pay the unsubsidised price of RM2.50 per litre.
